Everyone interested in fostering or adopting a bird must attend our class on bird care prior to receiving a bird from us. This class is free of charge (although donations are appreciated) and is open to the general bird-loving public.
The class covers these topics:
- Proper avian care
- Proper avian diet
- Symptoms of illness and first aid
- General husbandry
- Taming and training
- And much much more...
Criteria for adopting/fostering a bird from us can be found on our How to Adopt page.
We have basic bird care classes scheduled throughout the Bay Area in the North Bay, San Francisco/Peninsula, South Bay, East Bay, and Sacramento areas.
Notes:
- Please arrive 5 minutes early to allow for registration.
- Andy's is located in Downtown San Jose, near San Pedro Square and the Shark Tank, just few blocks off of Highway 87. Park for FREE in Andy's private lot - street meter enforcement is in effect on Saturdays.
- Class attendees will have the opportunity to see some of Mickaboo's foster birds (scheduled to arrive at noon).
Reservation: To reserve your spot for a class, email class@mickaboo.org with the class location and class date, in the subject line. And if you want to adopt a cockatiel (for example), please say so in the email so we may try to customize our class comments for you.
